He signed a contract, he should be held to it. I hope they don't give in, but at the same time, if we can get some legitimate talent for him, I'd take it.

Is the NFL the only professional sport this happens? I don't recall instances of players under contract refusing to play until a new, better contract is offered. I'm sure it's happened in the NBA, but most contract hold outs I can recall have to do with demanding a trade not a new contract.

The NFL is also the only place where a contract means nothing... players can be cut outright, and only portions of their entire contract are guaranteed.

The NFL players union is the weakest, by far, in all of sports. The owners have them by the you-know-what. They bended over backwards in the latest labor negotiation.

They get paid millions... where do I sign up? In the regular world I get paid FAR less, and if I start to suck at my job I get fired.. Hell if they fire a player midway through season, they usually have to pay him the rest of that season. Don't throw a pity party for them. Is it completely up to him to do this? Yes. Is it okay that he just wants more guarantee? Yes. But no I don't feel sorry for him at all. Contract totally means something.

I don't feel sorry for him either... he's willing to lose a lot of money to try and get what he wants.

But it fans don't have a problem when teams cut players outright because they suddenly can't afford them... they shouldn't feel angry at players for holding out when they feel they're worth more than what they're currently getting paid.

Such an ignorant comment, it's as though you think that guaranteed money is the only thing that gives a contract meaning.

Players can be "cut outright" in all sports, otherwise those leagues would suck, and money isn't always guaranteed in those cases either.

I would love to have a contract as meaningless as Duane Brown has. I'm confident literally no one commenting in these forums has it that "bad".
