Wow that's like seeing Big Foot as far as our O Line is concerned...never seen anything like that before EVER from our offensive line
With Martin anchoring the OL, it appears to be better than forecast. Wonder what is going to happen with D. Brown. Could they trade him?
Brown's hold out has been extremely ineffective. Obviously the team misses his presence on the line, but he's not going to get a new contract and everyone knows that he'll be here come week one. He's doing absolutely zero to improve his contract situation. Should've took notes from Hopkins and done a symbolic holdout then showed up to camp. I foresee him on his way out the door here sooner rather than later. I'm all for players getting their money, but I just don't think that Brown has a leg to stand on here.
I don't get what he's holding out for...he's making 9.5 million this year right? He wants an extension that number is probably going way down for the security of a multi year contract. He's not getting another 5 year 20 mil guaranteed extension. I just can't figure out what's his expectation?
Isn't the assumption that he just wants his money to be guaranteed? He conceivably could have torn a ligament by now if he'd reported to camp, and the Texans would get off scotch free by cutting him. I don't really think it's in the team's best interest to set this precedent, but he does have some leverage in how weak our line is. Either way, I expect him to report by week one and it might benefit everyone in the long run for him to have skipped camp and the preseason.
I definitely get a vibe of veteran-doesn't-want-to-camp but I hope he's back in before game 1. I just wonder if he were expecting an extension what he has in mind. I would be quick to counter that Hopkins and Clowney are coming up.
I think he's finding out now that there's just no way he's getting that guaranteed deal he wanted. Maybe they will do something to help him save face by giving him essentially the same deal with this season guaranteed, but his holdout will have been for nothing.
If he got injured for the season on day 1 of training camp, he would have received his full salary for 2017...so really, if it's guaranteed money he wants, he's chasing 2018 to be guaranteed, but he's losing millions in the process if he chooses to keep holding out.
