    This is the more telling interview. Not sure what everyone sees in that other one, but there's no way he or his publicist(?) talk like that if he's staying with the Knicks.

    All this boils down to is Knicks want leverage where they agreed in contract to give it away. All they can do is more damage to their relationship with Melo and their reputation by keeping him, but based on history they might do this very thing.

    "It's a matter of getting the right return"

    Then the deal ain't happening. New York is not going to get the "right return" with zero leverage. Once they accept that, they can begin to move forward with the franchise.

    The Knicks just need to take this L. They got a guy who's been on their team for some time now [33]. There lucky he signed with them a few years back. They were already talked about buying him out at one point. Might as well caught their loses and free up some cap and add some minor additions
