I'd love for Tilman Fertitta to buy the Rockets, however, it's a pipedream. Do you guys remember the Texans? During the process of building the Houston Texans as an NFL team, Fertitta was one of the original investors in creating the franchise. He then lasted as a partner for the Texans owner Bob McNair until 2008. Fertitta then had to sell his interest in the franchise, as he owns Golden Nugget Casinos as part of Landry's subsidiary. NFL rules state any staff member of a team can't be associated with gambling. Both Fertitta and McNair were disappointed, as Fertitta was part of the franchise since the beginning, yet the team needed to comply with NFL rules. I imagine NBA rules are very similar. Discuss.
You "imagine" the rules are similar. So really this thread should be entitled "I think there may be a clause that prevents Ferittta from buying the Rockets"
It didn't stop the Maloofs back in the day. Maybe the rules have changed. Fertitta's a POS and needs to stay the hell away from the Rockets.
The last thing we need a restaurant and casino owner running the Rockets. You already saw what the Maloofs did to the Kings. We need a billionaire tech guy.
Adam Silver is very open minded about sports gambling. I suspect the Golden Nugget ownership stake will not be the determining issue.
He can sell the casinos to one of his brothers He would def keep the team here and not give a dam at what it cost to win...
So you felt so validated after posting this in the other thread that you should post it in it's own thread... because you "imagine". Why not take that time and actually VALIDATE your thinking before posting a thread like this. Sorry but 3 months or 3 years on board doesn't make your thoughts the final word on something.
Back in March 2016, Floyd Mayweather revealed that he wanted to quit betting on sports so that he could own an NBA team. During a press conference that was held prior to the Adrien Broner/Ashley Theophane fight that he helped promote, Mayweather said that he had his sights set on becoming an NBA owner sooner than later. "You guys know I like to bet on sports," he said, "but I’m looking forward to stepping back from betting on sports now. I’m looking forward to probably getting into ownership of an NBA team."
Good! I would absolutely dread if Bubba Gump was installed in the main concourse, and Joe's Crab Shack were built right next to the restrooms. Everything Landry's SUCKS!
