Gotta think the chances PG making an all-NBA team go up in the D'Antoni system. That would boost our chances of re-signing him tremendously. Edit: nevermind, could only do it with Indy
This is an interesting play. Trading for George could entice a major free agent to come here and having a major free agent sign here, could entice George to stay. In a world where you are either GSW caliber or you aren't, I think its a worthwhile gamble. If we got Paul, then I see little sense for George to say "oh let me take less money to play on a worse team"
Can't get the 200 million super max from anyone but Indiana. The all NBA thing doesn't matter anymore for him
Still think that it wouldn't be a lock though for him to turn down a 5 year deal in a no state income tax state esp coming off of a 60ish win season. Get PG really helps in getting a player like CP3. Staying pat is worse than tanking.
So apparently the Warriors are going after Paul George now too, but some of y'all think we shouldn't try and swing for the fences
Shut this thread down, we don't have enough enticing assets. CP3 is a huge long shot too. Harden would be a little crazy to sign an extension this summer and commit his entire prime to the Rockets. Where is the path to a 2nd and hopefully 3rd star to put around him if we strike out this summer?
Well it looks like Kyrie might be available if LeBron jumps ship. Kyrie and Harden looked amazing together in their FIBA games
The Pacers would be fools if they don't engage every team in the NBA, considering they're selling an All-Star player. Question is whether the Lakers are actually willing to give the type of enticing assets you're referring to.
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...-los-angeles-lakers-talking-trade-paul-george The Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Lakers are engaged in Paul George trade discussions as Thursday's NBA Draft draws near, according to league sources. But sources told ESPN that it remains unclear whether the sides can agree to trade terms before the draft, given Indiana's desire to acquire the Lakers' No. 2 overall pick and L.A.'s well-chronicled reluctance to surrender it. The Lakers have been adamant, with one team source going so far as to say there's "zero chance" they'd part with the No. 2 pick or last season's No. 2 overall pick Brandon Ingram in a trade for George, knowing that the Pacers' All-Star hopes to sign with his hometown Lakers as a free agent in July 2018. Yet sources say the fact that Indiana has made George available via trade league-wide -- after hearing directly from George's agent Aaron Mintz over the weekend that the player has no desire to commit his long-term future to the Pacers -- has led to talks that could potentially result in the Lakers' acquiring George this offseason. Trading for George now would obviously come at a cost for the Lakers, but it would also insulate them from the possibility that another team gambles on a one-season rental with the highly coveted two-way swingman and uses a successful season to convince George to stay. Teams with a known willingness to gamble -- such as ‎Boston, Houston and, of course, Cleveland -- might be willing to surrender quality trade assets, believing they can convince the 27-year-old George to reconsider his plans to head home to Los Angeles in 2018. The Indianapolis Star reported Tuesday that new Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard is determined to complete a George trade either before or coinciding with Thursday's draft.
Will be interesting to see what they'll part with and how quickly PG sours on playing for a 30 win team in the West.
The Lakers have 9000 times more leverage than Indiana. Please let Magic Johnson trade the 2nd pick anyway. It would solidify him as a fleece-able GM going forward.
Any hope of an uber successful offseason has been killed by the naysayers. Sadly, that is probably the most predictable outcome for our Rockets.
Not sure how much he cares about that if he knows that stink right now. And I think the Lakers may be able to include Deng or Mozgov in the PG trade just because the Pacers have no leverage.
lol Pacers aren't gonna get ****. Expect the Lakers to bend them over. No leverage what so ever. I'm expecting Clarkson and the #28, maybe Randle if they take back Deng or Mozgov,.
