Most people here think Kenny was just a 3 point jacker , he wasn't. For some reason , if you are a TV analyst, people confuse your on air personality with your actual NBA production.

Kenny was one, Drexler is a great example. Dude was legendary.

Rockets essentially resurrected his career with the trade of Lucas and Tim McCormick (who went on to run a spice racket), and then Kenny humbled himself and sacrificed his game to win the two titles. Could have easily been a perennial all star after starting his career as all nba rookie. Interesting too that Kenny Smith played w/ Ralph Sampson, Rodney McCray, and Danny Ainge in his last year as a Sacramento King. Ended up losing his starting job to Doc Rivers in hotlanta before transferring to the great city of Houston via trade.

    Other transactions in 89-90:
Kenny Smith was acquired by the Houston Rockets from the Atlanta Hawks in a trade.
Draft Rights to Carl Herrera from the Miami Heat in a trade.
Draft Rights to Dave Jamerson from the Miami Heat in a trade.
Selected Alec Kessler in Round 1 with Pick 12 in the 1990 NBA Draft.
Lewis Lloyd, previously with the Houston Rockets, became a free agent.
Vernon Maxwell was acquired by the Houston Rockets from the San Antonio Spurs in a trade.
Chuck Nevitt, previously with the Houston Rockets, became a free agent.
Allen Leavell, previously with the Houston Rockets, became a free agent.
Mitchell Wiggins signed a contract with the Houston Rockets.
John Lucas signed a multi-year contract with the Houston Rockets.
Anthony Bowie was acquired by the Houston Rockets from the San Antonio Spurs in a trade.
Adrian Caldwell signed a contract with the Houston Rockets.
Larry Smith signed a multi-year contract with the Houston Rockets.
Walter Berry, previously with the Houston Rockets, became a free agent.
Purvis Short, previously with the Houston Rockets, became a free agent.

Kenny was creative on his dunks and deceptively quick but he lacked swag.

I still remember his 7 3 pointers in the '94 finals.

Kenny's issue wasn't offense. It was the fact he got abused by Stockton and Payton.
