    15. Keston Hiura

Essentially, if he's there at #15, Houston will be all over him.

Not a super common surgery for hitters, I wonder how that will affect his development.

Slow it down big time! Just look at Brady Aiken.

It could stunt his development, but Aiken is a pitcher and therefore not really a good comparison for what Hiura's development would look like as a hitter.

I think they are a BPA team especially in the first round. They will take whoever is the top guy on their board. They probably do lean more towards hitters, though, unless a pitcher like Whitley is available. Rumors are they had him as the top HS pitcher in last year's draft so there was no way they were going to pass on him at 17.

Is Peterson considered a similar prospect to Eric Lauer from last year? I really liked Lauer and he has performed pretty well in the Cal League so far for the Pads org.

    1.97 era, 1.18 whip, 15 walks, 55 strikeouts, 45.2 innings pitched

Yes, but that's not a gamble I'm willing to take with the #15th pick overall. There will be a few pretty good prospects available when the Astros draft.

Hiura is Benitendi-esque. If he were able to play in the field this year he could be a top 10 pick. You're going to pass on that because he might miss 9 months with TJS? A surgery that has become almost a rite of passage for ball players it's so routine...

Give me Hiura. Best pure college hitter in this draft by my estimation.

That's your opinion, I seem to disagre
He lost against Griffin Canning in his final regular season start. When the opposition got better, he struggled some.

    15. Houston Astros

    David Peterson, LHP

    Oregon

If Baz is available, that either ends here, or he falls out of the round for an over-slot deal somewhere. The Astros are also interested in Kendall if he gets this far.

Interesting, Law thinks Baz is our guy and BA think Hiura is our guy. Hopefully one of the two is available.

Longenhagen said in his chat today that the Astros would be fortunate if Baz fell to them but it'd take a bunch of college guys going ahead (e.g. Peterson) for that to happen. He also mentioned that Baz's command is behind where Whitley's was last year. Whitley seems more like a steal at #17 every day.
