Clowney is listed as a DE on Texans website and I don't think it was a coincidence that his success last year was tied to him going back to the DL. Unless there is an injury, the quandary becomes would you rather have one more year of Wilfork at the expense of a keeping one of the younger guys? I like Vince and believe he does bring a lot to the locker room. I also believe in the Bill Parcells theory of large human beings. However, I'd defer to Vrabel who knows him both from a teammate and coach's perspective. If he wants Vince back, I'm sure he'll ask Rick to work it out.
he has decided houston is his home. Seems that everyone that comes through this city ends up staying 4 life'. Houston is the place!
Well, Clowney plays both DE/DL and OLB. He mostly plays OLB in base but then in nickel/dime/etc. he puts his hand in the dirt.
Please don't retire Vince! You are one of my favorite players and leaders of this team! Please play another year in Houston, don the overalls, and have a big ole Texas BBQ in Friendswood, preparing for a season where you can be the difference maker on getting us to our first championship. Please, please, please don't retire!
I think having him on the team is good for JJ. Brings SB experience and can pick up the D's spirits. I hope Rick/BOB are doing what they can to recruit him.
Great take by Vince. Always good to hear positive stories instead of all the negative bs the media tries to feed the public.
He brings experience across the spectrum - grown ass man; NT; dline; defense and championship experience. Keep him fresh rotating with the young guns and he should still be impactful. Only problem is, he will take a roster spot and they will be super tight again this year. He should make an excellent dline coach.
He does have a sick jump shot. Not sure if schooling Friendswood High School students translates to the NBA though... well, except when they are playing Dallas.
