Yep. Apparently the deals were identical except for Hield. So basically the Pelicans added him and managed to upgrade from Okafor to Cousins.
Dat height. Ajinca. Asik. Dmo. Cousins. Davis. Hope they play warriors 1st round. Would be interesting
not as bad for the kings as some of you are saying. boogie has yet to prove that he can win--he can put up numbers sure but he has major flaws and maturity issues. buddy hield can shoot, evans played well in SAC, and 2 picks.
It will be interesting to see how they will work together in real games btw, what if in 12 months there will be rumors about Davis asking to trade Boogie? Lol
Lost with Cousins, will lose without him. What's brutal is Kings fans should have no faith in their management but that too has been going on for years.
I really think it could be. And the more I look at this for New Orleans...I just don't see it. If you include Jrue Holidays cap hold, they don't have any cap space next summer. If you exclude it, they only have $16 million...half of what they need for another max deal. They rest of their team is on long term, difficult to move deals. I mean, I guess why not?...but I still think this shows shortsightedness and very likely will lead to Cousins walking next summer.
Am I so biased that I think a deal of Capela, Brewer, McDaniels, a first and possibly Dekker is loads better than the trash the Kings got for DMC? The basically got Heild and a mid-1st for the best center in the NBA who also shoots like 40% from 3. Heild is already 23 years one and shoots 39% from the field. Like the best he'll probable ever become is a serviceable starting shooting guard that puts up 15/5/3 on mediocre shooting. That 1st is going to be at best the 15th pick. With the Kings terrible draft history, basically kiss that pick goodbye. Basically be whatever no name had a surprisingly good tournament. I wonder why Morey didn't get in on this? there are multiple trade packages the Rockets could have made that would have easily bested the Pelicans offer. Why didn't the Lakers offer up more if they were in it? A package centered around Randall/Ingram, Clarkson and picks would have been much better than the NOP package. Kings FO is straight r****ded.
will he be ready to play against the Rockets on Thursday? Davis and Cousins will destroy Capela and Ryno.
These Birds just got away with murder. My goodness....The Kings could have gotten a much better deal, but the rebuild is in full-effect. Don't be surprised for Vlade to do more. That's now just an implosion ....Sac was onm the verge of being a playoff team. That's over. Boogie said all of the right things, but there have been rumblings for awhile now that he wanted out...He wanted to be free of losing... New Orleans is still active...they're going big, with too many bigs! EDIT: Someone please make the argument that DMo should be starting over Boogie! Quick! lol
I can only think of 3 explanations: 1) Morey and Les are terrified of f'ing up team chemistry after the disaster of last season. Look, the Rockets are 40-18, have the 3rd best record in the West, 4th best record in the league, and cap flexibility heading into the summer. Do you intentionally screw with that knowing how great things are going right now? 2) Cousins pulled a Dragic and explicitly stated which teams he would and wouldn't resign with after 2018. It seems unfathomable that he'd agree to a new deal with the Pelicans and not us, but who knows what the hell goes on in that dude's head? 3) The Rockets don't wanna commit 30+ mil a season to an injury-prone, technical foul-prone center who despite his talent has never led the Kings to the playoffs(although he's close this year). Especially when the league seems to be moving away from offenses built around dominant big men.
