I have been watching the NBA since the 90's, so I definitely recall a time when there were some baaad jerseys in the league, but even many of those were able to gain a bit of nostalgic traction as the years went on. But I'm watching this Clippers/Magic game right now, and the jerseys are absolutely horrible. Just horrible. The whole sleeves thing, the whole Clippers new "branding" thing... and I honestly feel like right now, league-wide, this might be one of the worst eras of jerseys in the history of the league. Examples (I'm not putting the pictures here cause some of them are too big): http://forums.nba-live.com/dl_mod/thumbs/8101_5.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ea5CAM9.jpg http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/...-nba-boston-celtics-orlando-magic-850x560.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B1U0HvFCcAIJSjV.png And what is up with this gray sleeve bs? Celtics, Rockets, Magic, Warriors... http://blog.sfgate.com/warriors/files/2014/09/Warriors-2014-15-Slate-Alternate-Uniform.jpg http://content.sportslogos.net/logos/6/230/full/3614_houston_rockets-home-2016.gif And look at this. Would you even know which teams these were if you couldn't see the Celtics' name? http://c.o0bg.com/rf/image_960w/Bos...obe.com/Sports/Images/davis_bosind11_spts.jpg
So you're saying the sleeve era. Someone told Adidas/NBA that sleeves were a good idea. Take the sleeves off and you have to get rid of half of those jerseys.
Carl, as rough as those jerseys are (and incidentally the Rockets and Raptors were two teams that I directly thought of when I mentioned the bad 90's jerseys), you have to at least give them credit for trying something, for using a little bit of color. Seems like every team nowadays has a black or gray alt. Such a cowardly and uninspired direction to go in. Also, that Raptors jersey definitely made it into the sphere of "ironic cool" in the current era.
Old school vintage jerseys > modern jerseys. Tho I've never been typically found of any of our logos/designs I think okc new orange jerseys look dope. Houston needs a old school one that just says Houston rather then basic rockets
Yeah i prefer those late 90s over today as well. They can be modernized to look great. Vancouver using the tribal sleeve trim is so unique and awesome.
I didn't think those late-90's Rockets jerseys were that bad... At the time, I thought they were pretty cool. Obviously the rocket could've been less cartoon-y, but the colors and 3D letters/stripes fit the style at the time. Space-related stuff was popular in the mid-90's.
This is what the people want. If you just posted a black jersey and said it's the next team jersey, people would discuss how it's so "clean", and they want to buy it. I'm not a fan of current NBA jerseys or logos in general. I've posted in another thread before saying NHL & NFL teams have much better schemes, NHL being my particular favorite. I like uniqueness.
I think the sleeved, checkered, grey, current Rockets alternate Rivals the late 90s pinstripes as all time worst in basketball
Yeah idk. I love those raptors jerseys. This is just conjecture, but it seems obvious enough. The NBA is gonna start putting advertisements on jerseys real soon coming up here. It makes sense they'd want to maximize the space with sleeves added on. If they can push the brand logo onto the sleeves that leaves a whole lot of room for the endorsement company on the front/back/whatever.
Thank god for Derozan otherwise the Raptors colours would be black and gold. At least they kept the red as primary colour. I agree that there are too many gray jerseys. Gray is the new black. Teams have it because they think that gray or black with sleeves are gonna sell and people will buy them so that's why every other team now has them. Supposedly people dont want to wear a t-shirt inside the sleeveless jersey and they prefer gray and black to bright colours. It's all done for sales.
This is the game I was talking about. Clippers vs. Magic--a.k.a., black vs. gray. Go back in time two years and if you couldn't see the logos, you would be hard-pressed to even figure out who the hell these two teams were.
I hate the jerseys with sleeves and the Clippers unleashed all kinds of fail with their new uniforms. They had cool classic looking uniforms and just screwed it up.
These are all awesome, at least they have some character. The jerseys these days might as well be computer generated.
