Thus, the ord is and will be legal. Glad you are finally understanding.

BTW, someone isn't confuse when they know. The outsider is confuse when they don't understand. That confusion is very understandable - thinking outside of society norm and old books teaching is very hard to do.

What is sad and pathetic is both sides are too busy cramming their beliefs down everyone throats and refuse to compromise. It has little to do with the alleged distressed person and more about forcing their ideology onto others.

Simple solution. Add a private/family bathroom for those who dont want to offend someone or those who might be offended.

The 'bathroom' issue is a red herring.

That's significant cost to add a new 3rd bathroom. Most bathroom, especially women, are consider "family" bathroom today anyway.

Of course you said that because you aren't the "distressed" person.

It's not a big deal. Ideology makes it a big deal. And that Ideology fall squarely on one side. Don't pretend it's on both.

    SO:

I went and checked the site and the Ordinance

    https://archive.org/stream/equal_rights_ordinance/equal_rights_ordinance_djvu.txt

Where exactly does it say Transgender folx will be able to pick their bathroom?

    Bathroom is mentioned twice:
Is the Point of contention the 4th WHEREAS:
Primarily the Bolded Part? Because it is open to interpretation?

Can someone get specific with me on which passage in this ordinance deals with public or private bathrooms?
    Is this the right ordinance?

No the ordinance is unnecessary because it does not give any rights not already afforded to anyone except the bathroom privileges that they are already using and nobody is complaining about. A pervert could however use the ordinance to catch a peek in a bathroom they do not belong in.

BTW- the only confused people are the ones who do not know what gender they are and the outsiders who try to make this a bigger issue than it is and create unnecessary laws to gives rights to people who already have the rights they are trying to give them.

I think the explicit mention of restroom was to be removed (not sure if it was actually removed). Your link may be that version. The protection is supposedly still there. I believe it's this (no lawyer here so):

Right, no one is complaining.... until it's written down. For some reason, something that is already happening with no one complaining is completely unacceptable to be written down.

And then Perv can already enter women bathroom today under the same "they are already using" logic. But apparently they don't choose to do it, even though it's already happening and no one is complaining, until after this ordinance.

If you are so concern with safety or perv in bathroom, probably the best course is make bathroom without any door or major blockage of view and have it accessible by all. Completely open bathroom with small stalls for privacy. Any criminal acts could be witness by all. Much safer than today closed bathroom. Ready for that? Didn't think so.

You still don't get it. They know what gender they are. They aren't confuse. Those that are confuse are probably those that know but refuses to accept maybe because of an internal fight within oneself. Typically, I think they live by their social or ancient-based teaching without questioning it even to the point of damaging their own identity. The other that are confuse, are folks like you who do not understand and will continue to judge base on your views.

There is zero need for the ordinance. They already have these rights. What is the purpose??

If there's no need for this ordinance, then why have other cities of similar size and other states passed their own anti-discrimination bills? Maybe for reasons such as this:

    http://www.texasmonthly.com/the-daily-post/houstons-equal-rights-ordinance-explained/

Seems like it's something than can only help to reduce and eliminate discrimination. Even if it only marginally helps, it's still better than doing nothing at all.

I guess this is up to the citizens of the city of Houston to decide but shame on the mayor for trying to keep this off of the ballot.

I imagine women's restrooms to be those college movies where they take off their clothes and touch each other's boobs.

Definitely saves me the trouble of drilling a hole at the gas station for my side action if I could just spruce myself up as a drag queen.

Makes a great plot for a Hollywood reboot (not really).

You're delusional. Women bathrooms are not considered family bathrooms. Family bathrooms are usually the ones seated between the communal bathrooms and have lockable doors for privacy.

Your rationale is to pander to a confused individual who wants to use the opposite sex bathroom simply to be accepted, not because they feel uncomfortable. If they truly felt uncomfortable, then you would take into consideration of all the women who would feel uncomfortable with having an obvious male walk into the bathroom.

Regardless, our culture is not comfortable with a unisex bathroom idea. I provided a solution that solves a lot more problems than a irrelevant issue at hand. Yes, the issue is irrelevant. Transgenders are not being discriminated against.

They're not being discriminated, they're just confused and overly sensitive.

Your solution isn't possible for private owners and lord knows the b****ing about the mandated costs for an extra restroom. It's like making handicap friendly buildings all over again.

Public accommodation seems clear enough, that was the same language used to enact and enforce racial integration with respect to lodging, transit facilities, seating and service at retail businesses, et al. Furthermore just because the ordinance doesn't reference a specific type of venue doesn't mean incidents there can't be litigated later on in court.

You mean to tell me that a mother that has small boys won't take them to the ladies room but to a third separate bathroom?
And also that the womens bathroom don't have locks in the stalls?
